Preparation
- In a large frying pan, brown hamburger and Italian sausage.
- While browning the meat, in a very large pot combine tomato products, a 28 oz can of water and bring to a simmer.
- To the tomato sauce add the sugar, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, dried parsley, grated Parmesan cheese and pepperonis and stir to combine.
- When the meats are browned and combined, add it to the simmer tomato sauce.
- To the pan that meats have browned in, add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and then add garlic for 30 seconds to one minute more.
- Deglaze onion and garlic mixture with white wine.
- Pour onion/garlic mixture into the simmering tomato sauce and stir to combine.
- Simmer in very low heat all day with lid half on, stirring g she ever you walk past it.
- Prior to serving, remove the pepperoni and chop it up and return to the pot. Also add meatballs, if using.
- Divide into containers holding 1 lb amounts to serve two people, freezing the rest of the containers.
